GEISHA: Where are we headed on this speed boat Captain Norman?
NORMAN: I'll let you know when I can figure out how to turn the boat on Geisha.

Hello boys and girls! As you can see from the photo, Norman and his friend Geisha sometimes like to play around on a speedboat. Norman thinks he's the real Captain, but I think he still needs to take some lessons on how to drive the boat before I'm going to head out with him at the helm.

Norman's best friend Stella, actually DOES know all about speed boats though. She goes to work as an archeologist's assistant, and sometimes she has to take a boat to get to the digging site. Take a look at her on one of her work days heading to the work site in the photo and video below:

Archeologists often go to special sites to dig in the ground to see if they can find any artefacts so we can learn about the people and cultures from long ago. According to my brother-in-law, Stella the Archeologist Dog helps the crew out by testing the temperature of the water when she goes for a swim, excavating the site of sticks, which she likes to run around a play with, and helps with the digging  (although she is usually digging herself a burrow to sleep in, not digging for artefacts.) She also sometimes gets to have Subway for lunch for all of her hard work. Norman is hoping that he might get to be Stella's apprentice this summer and go on the speed boat too, because he thinks it sounds like LOTS of fun.

In the story Old MacDonald Had a Boat. Old Mac and Mrs. Mac build a speedboat so they can race around the lake on it. Their farm animals even get in of the fun too when they get to use the boat to go water skiing! After you have listened and sung along to Old MacDonald Had a Boat, you can work on a a fun boat colour-by-number sheet. It will look very beautiful when you have finished it!
